vfio-users mailing list
The Arch Linux VGA thread was recently closed leaving a number of users looking for a place to continue the conversation. To facilitate that, I've created a vfio-users mailing list for discussion of all topics related to vfio. That includes QEMU device assignment use cases, such as VGA/GPU, as well as userspace drivers. Though hosted by Red Hat, this is a distribution independent forum intended to further vfio and its use cases as a technology. Please be respectful of each other and keep topics relevant to the forum. Sign up here
Still can't believe they closed and deleted the thread. Signed up for mailing list just now. Looking forward to participating.
ReplyDeleteThey weren't *that* stupid, the thread isn't deleted, just closed and moved https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=162768
Deletewell:
DeleteBad request. The link you followed is incorrect or outdated.
You have to be registered and logged in to see it now. So the Arch BBS really has withdrawn good info from the public. Annoying.
DeleteUnbelievable. It shows a huge lack of respect by the forum moderators to hide all that work and all those contributions from the public.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Please at least make the closed thread available to view. NBHS's first post is actually what got me into Arch and Linux itself!
DeleteNot under my control, complain to the Arch folks, I have.
DeleteYah sorry i realize it sounds like I may have directed it to you; I didnt mean that.
DeleteThanks for your continued work on this site I appreciate it
It's back up:

Really sad it's ended like that, but that topic still have a lot of useful information so I decide to make mirror available for search engines:

Hope it's will help others to find information because it's how I originally find that topic that helped me so much.
Does it take quite a long time for the subscription request to the list to get processed? I've filled in the form a couple of times but am not getting any confirmation in my email (and I've checked Spam).
ReplyDeleteHello, and thanks for all the wonderful information you have provided. With your detailed instructions I have finally got passthrough to work with ovmf and pci stubs with my nvidia titan z. It is a dual gpu card, so it has proven difficult to get passthrough to work. The only way it seems to work is if i only passthrough one of the pci addresses that lspci -knn is reporting for the card and then the hdmi stub for said card. I can not seem to get both gpu's passed through. Windows reports error 43. if i passthrough both pci addresses. I have tried all documented flags for libvirt and all the kvm hidden and hypervclock removal. I realize sli config is almost impossible but was wondering since this card does not need sli, if that would make it possible. Please any help would be great.
ReplyDeleteThanks again.
